20 Under 40 Class of 2025: Christy Scholl

My name is Christy Scholl and I am 30 years old with a big dream of keeping warbirds relevant and flying throughout my lifetime! I grew up running around the hangars of Aero Trader in Chino, California. My father, Carl Scholl, is well known in the warbird industry for his immaculate B-25 restorations and decades of providing B-25 parts to owner/operators. The torch is being passed to my generation to honor the ones who came before us, including all those who have preserved warbirds post-war and have gotten the industry to where it is today. As I’ve gotten older, I have become more involved in the maintenance of our own B-25, The Pacific Princess – with the goal of flying her here shortly. I have recently started the slow process of scanning and archiving thousands of photographs from Chino Airport/Aero Trader and sharing them on social media to document decades of warbird history and the stories behind their restorations and flying adventures. In the recent years, I have been collaborating with my father to gain a stronger understanding of his vast inventory of B-25 parts to ensure that our B-25 community will continue to have what they need to stay operational and airworthy for many years to come!

Being a pediatric nurse by trade, I enjoy sharing my love for warbirds and aviation with children and young people whenever possible. At my children’s hospital, I have connected patients and their families with upcoming airshows, local aviation museums, Young Eagle rides, and a non-profit academy dedicated to exposing young people to aircraft/warbird maintenance. I try my best to excite the general public about aviation and educate them on WWII history! While I am working on my multi-commercial currently, with aspirations to fly professionally one day, a large chunk of my flight time is in my ’47 Aeronca Chief – MissChief. I have a strong admiration for the WASPs and enthusiastically share their story to inspire girls and women in aviation… and women in warbirds!

Above all, my biggest goal as a young person in warbirds is to honor the Greatest Generation. In our lifetime, all the WWII veterans will pass away and I think their stories deserve to be told and legacy kept alive. Their flying machines are the vessels in which we have the opportunity to use to share the story of their bravery, honor, and patriotism with the world. It is an honor and a privilege to fly, preserve and maintain warbirds and I have the utmost respect for the people in our community who humbly understand this. I aim to always do my part in keeping warbirds relevant – whether that’s through sharing photographs/archives, providing B-25 parts, or by flying or participating in warbird events to inspire the next generation!
